At little more than 15years ago I kneeled over a garden bed next to my mother, helping tend to her plants. The smell of soil, grass and tomatoes filled my nose and the sun caused sweat to drip down the back of my neck. At the time I was 17years of age and my depression was undiagnosed. My highs were quite high, my lows alarmingly low. When those lows hit, I came to the garden to dig my hands in the dirt or walked the nature trail calmed by being surrounded by trees. I didn't yet think in terms of being an environmentalist or reducing my waste. I didn't pay much thought, care or attention to the landscaping around our house let alone what animals made their homes out of my childhood backyard. All I knew was healing was found when I submersed myself in nature.

Now I'm soon to be 35. Married with three children of my own. That inner knowing rooted itself in my Spirit and I'm here to carry out my purpose of tending to that inner knowing within my kids. It's spread to helping others tend to that inner knowing in themselves and their families. Writing has been a comfort to me for longer than it took for that inner knowing to blossom. Naturally, writing is my conduit of choice. Here on my blog I will be sharing articles and essays about my experience healing our relationship with our eco-system. On my substack, Slow Living Chronicles, I share a fun and more light hearted view of how that is expressed in our weekly lives and the climate fiction I am working on.

It is my hope that my writing stirs something in you, whether that be an invitation to try something new or recognition that you are not alone in your efforts. If we all do our best, we'll see change and healing in the coming generations.

Thank you for being here.
